RECOVERY SERVICES

What we do.

Epiphany provides Recovery Coaching and Companion Services to individuals who are struggling with substance use and disordered eating.
No matter what stage a person is at on their recovery journey, a coach or companion will work from a place of compassion to provide guidance, accountability and the framework needed to achieve their recovery goals.

The reasons why an individual decides to enter recovery are highly personal and differ from person to person. Because of this, Epiphany works with each Recoveree to develop a personalized plan - empowering them to make well-informed decisions for their recovery. The goal is to connect each individual with a realistic pathway to sustainable recovery with long-term outcomes.

Recovery Coaches and Companions are in recovery themselves and have a deep appreciation for the challenges Recoverees face. They know that asking for help takes tremendous courage and that recovery is worth it!

What’s the difference?

A Recovery Coach and Companion support the Recoveree with goal and boundary setting, skill building, accountability, and commitment follow-through. There are however some important differences between the two…

Recovery Coaching

Recovery coaching is a form of strength-based, healing centered support that has grown tremendously over the past decade. A Recovery Coach provides coaching for individuals who are in recovery or seeking recovery from substances or an eating disorder. It is a partnership where the individual self-directs their recovery while the coach provides their expertise to support successful change.

The Coach takes a client-centered approach, empowering the Recoveree by honouring their values and helping them to make thoughtful decisions. The coach will assess each Recoverees readiness for change and then works to strengthen and reinforce their motivation for recovery. Together the Recoveree and coach will create a clear plan of action by using the Recoveree’s current strengths to reach their future goals.

Essentially, the coach serves as an accountability partner to help the Recoveree meet intent with action. Individual goals, specific to each Recoveree’s personal strengths and challenges, are set weekly with a commitment to safety and self-care. A compassionate and empowering approach is used to build the Recoverees sense of self, autonomy and confidence.

The Recovery Coach will determine the Recoverees needs, help to define boundaries, and explore how community, family, and employment/educational supports can best be used to sustain recovery. The coach will also help the Recoveree navigate additional services that may be required for support.

Recovery Companioning

A Recovery Companion is similar to a Recovery Coach but offers an intensive level of service to the Recoveree and sometimes their family.

The companion usually resides in the Recoverees home (or if required, in a residence nearby) for a pre-determined number of days/weeks. They are a full-time coach who is by the Recoverees side 24/7 doing everything in their power to prevent a reoccurrence and/or symptomatic behaviours.

A companion can help an individual transition back to their home life after leaving in-patient treatment, or are frequently used as an alternative for those who may be treatment resistant.

They support the Recoveree in developing a new ‘recovery routine/lifestyle’ and help to process and move through challenges and triggers in real-time.

The companion will uncover areas in the Recoverees life where they have had little experience or success in setting boundaries and can help to identify areas which may present roadblocks to continued recovery.

Companions coach throughout each day and assist the Recoveree in seeking their own recovery communities, meetings, support services and resources.

Epiphany offers varying lengths of companioning engagements based on the needs of each Recoveree.
